Rescued Cats

Rescued Cats

Junior I took in about 8 years ago, a stray. I don't know where she came from but she had been fixed and declawed. Such a friendly cat, she loves to sit on my lap. Throughout the years, I have taken in cats and dogs and either found homes or kept them. The black cat, spooky, was a stray. I feed the strays and she was outiside eating and I opened the door to see her. She walked in and has lived with me ever since. She is about 1 - 2, I took her to the vet, she has been fixed but has claws. She is the friendliest cat I ever met. She loves everyone, even little kids. She follows anyone in the house who is walking around. We all love her. I have always fed stray cats, and I always try to catch them so I can at least get them to a vet. Normally there is just 1 or 2 regulars, but recently now I have 4. One is a little friendly, the others are not. I would love to get them and at least be sure they are fixed but I don't know how and I really don't have any extra money myself for vet bills. Is there any group that would help if I took them to a vet. Or I would love to find someone really who could take them in. It bothers me so much to see all these poor animals out on the street. I think I am unofficially a cat rescue. If someone could tell me how to become official I would do that.

And Kaitlen Makes Three...

And Kaitlen Makes Three...

Kaitlen was born in a puppy mill and became sick with distemper. She survived and was rescued and started her life at a "no kill" animal shelter for dogs. While reading her story on the internet my husband and I became impassioned and drove to the shelter to see her. After our meet and greet, Kaitlen laid down on the floor and would not go back to her cage. A staff volunteer had to pick her up and carry her out, at which time we decided to adopt her and bring her home. She now lives with our two other rescued dogs, Cisco and Sandy. Kaitlen loves to play soccer and we always know where she is by the joyful thumping of her tail ready to greet us.

Tahoe-perfect playmate

Tahoe-perfect playmate

I found Tahoe at a local animal rescue shelter (just before Christmas this past year) when my boyfriend and I were looking for a playmate for our 1 year old weimaraner/lab mix, also a rescue. I saw him and knew right away my boyfriend would fall in love with this beautiful black lab. We renamed him Tahoe after one of our favorite places to visit. Tahoe is the perfect playmate for our very active Riley, she doesn't tear up the house anymore since they have each other to play with. Tahoe loves to play ball and always brings it right back to us. Our first visit to the lake with the dogs last weekend was a hit, Tahoe loves swimming! I can't imagine life without him.

3 best furry angels

3 best furry angels

Mocha was rescued from NJ rescue group 6 months back, while BV & Acai were adopted over 2 yrs ago. They contributed to a great part of my biggest dream in life -- to have my own Dog Rescue & Rehab Center. Little do they know.. they brighten up my whole family's life by snuggling around our arms on the couch, on the bed, obsessively licking our every inch of skin, jumping up and down to welcome us home. It's the best decision in life to have adopted them. You can do the same too!

A perfect match

A perfect match

Eloise chose me when I was searching for a companion at the local shelter after just moving to a big city by myself. I bent down by her cage and she walked over and kissed my forehead. Since then, even though she's not a snuggler, Eloise can always sense when I need a little extra love and will plop her grey butt down close by and let out a purr. I could never have picked a better cat, so I'm glad she picked me!

A Little "Rowdy"

A Little "Rowdy"

This is our little "Rowdy" and he definitely lives up to his name. My daughter turned 11 and begged for the opportunity to be a big sister (since she is the only child). So we searched for several months trying to find the big brother or sister she was compatible with. Finally someone in our local Iwanna listed free "Beagle" puppies, when we got to their home to pick out our addition to the family, she only had 2 left. 1 male & 1 female. My daughter attached herself to the "Rowdy" one , thus he got his name. As our little puppy grew, we discovered he was not a "Beagle" puppy, but an American Pit Bull... We had always heard horror stories about this breed, but our little "Rowdy" had already taken hold of our hearts. He has a permanent home with us. We couldn't think of what our lives would be with out him. The love he gives us is beyond all words to describe it. God gives us these little people in fur coats to love and take care of... There's nothing to compare. God spelled backwards is... Dog!

Ct. Humane Society Event 5/2/09

My Local H.S had an adoption Event here in Quaker Hill, Ct. There was this little dog no one was looking at, they all wanted younger dogs, this little girl was just sitting there looking so lonely, I could not resist her, she is a perfect little dog, she gets along with my Maine Coon cat and has filled an empty spot for me, as I lost my Pug on St. Patrick's day of this year. I am so glad i rescued my little Samantha, and she is fitting right in here. She is 8 years old and will have the Rest of her Life with me and my Cat Tommy. She is part Welsh Corgi and Chihuahua.

Sir Sampson

Sir Sampson

While attending college in South Carolina, my fiance' surprised me one day by taking me to visit what would become our spoiled rotten Sampson who is a Shar Pei/Border Collie mix. I fell in love with him as soon as I saw is chubby belly make its way across the floor to crawl onto the still warm stack of laundry. So we took him and his stuffed duck home as fast as we could to begin our lives together. He still can't lay on anything harder than carpet. We love our rescue pup!

Old Folks Home

Old Folks Home

Here is a picture of my two "old folks". We rescued Pappy, on the left, 2 years ago Valentines Day. I had asked to be put on the list and they called the day his time was up, I drove an hour to get him. He was about 12 years old and blind but I loved him immediately. The little girl on the right is Lil Granny, I drove three hours to get her. She's probably 10 or twelve years old, very skinny and in need of dental work as soon as we can get her health up to par. Both of these older dogs have brought such fun and joy to our family. People that can afford the vet bills should definitely consider rescuing an older dog, they are grateful and the satisfaction from giving a senior dog love and making their life comfortable is a high better than any drug.
