Our 1-lb. Cutie Pie

My son rescued a tiny kitten from the underside of a car in a restaurant parking lot. He and his girlfriend walked into the house and she said, "Mom, you're going to KILL us!", and proceeded to pull this tiny thing out from under her coat. He weighed only one pound! We didn't even discuss whether it was OK to keep him; it wasn't up for debate.
Our Merlyn was a social cat - the first time he saw our other cats, his face lit up and he ran up to them to make friends. They loved him and treated him like a baby, which he loved. He marched to his own drummer, rarely spoke, and would sit and watch people doing things, as though he were studying, trying to learn how to do it.
We lost our Merlyn to cancer last year at age six, and miss him terribly. We will never forget our little Cutie-pie, and how he enriched our lives.
