Our Stoic Little Old Man

Carlos came to us by way of Petfinder.com. He looked so sad in his picture and it touched a chord. When we went to the shelter to meet him the volunteers were so excited we were interested since he was scheduled to walk the last mile the next day. He had been picked up off the streets by Animal Control. He was emaciated and had lost all the fur off of his snout and both ears. His teeth were so decayed we had to have most of them pulled. We didn't know how long he was going to be with us. Much to our delight with a great deal of love and attention he flourished. He even shocked our veterinarian by regrowing the fur on his ears and most of his snout. Our other poodle, Charlie, became his "partner in crime". Charlie and Carlos were always ready to play or to try to intimidate the cows in the farm behind our home. We had five wonderful years with Carlos. While we wish we were able to be with him longer there is not a day that goes by that we don't count ourselves blessed for knowing him.
