Feral kitty

Feral kitty

We first saw Tigger winter before last it was 10 degrees and 1 1/2 feet of snow out side. He has a broken left front paw which has healed misshappen and was trying to hop in the very deep snow. It took some time but we finally trapped him and brought him into our home. It has taken over a year but he now is one of the family, he is very loving and we love him.

She only had 2 more days left....

She only had 2 more days left....

My boyfriend and I had been looking around online for a dog for a few months. I fell upon a picture of Lexi, a pitbull who had been in the shelter for 4 months and was about to be put down if nobody adopted her. We drove 2 and a half hours just to see her, and we stayed playing with her all day. We knew she was the one for us, her time was almost up when we got there, and now she has her forever home. She is the sweetest most loveable dog I have ever known. She is a constant companion and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect dog.

My Three Chi's - This is Otis

My Three Chi's - This is Otis

I used to purchase Yorkies and when I lost my last one and the prices became ridiculous and I understood the importance of adopting I turned to another small breed, Chihuahuas. First there was Otis, the brown male.
He was terribly abused and still has real emotional problems (I need to write Cesar Millan for help- I'm very serious - can anyone put me in touch with him?) he doesn't like to be touched, he won't let me put a leash on him. He won't go out for a walk, just runs around the patio, loves to sit in the sun and bark at the squirells. He will come to me for treats and food of course and at least he is safe and healthy and didn't get euthanized, the fate he was rescued from.- I got him through a Chihuahua Rescue Organization who found him at the pound about to be euthanized. Then came Felicia (the white female) as a companion to Otis. She had been neglected by her previous owner but came out of it not scarred emotionally like Otis. She came to me from her owner's neighbor who watched all the neglect over 7 years and finally convinced the owner to give her up. She is a love and rebounded from her neglect.

Then there were three!
Paris, (the black female) who was still a pup when I got her, so emotionally unscathed. She is the spoiled one of the three and came to me from a rescue booth at the Orange County Pet Fair.
I wouldn't dream of buying a dog when there are so many out there who need homes. People need to spay and neuter their pets!!
God bless all of you who are responsible pet owners and rescue animals.

Jack & Jill

Jack & Jill

We got Jack (blue merle Border Collie on the right) from a local breeder and wanted to find a friend for him. The Border Collie Rescue Group posted a message and picture of what they thought was a BC. Curly Sue was being held at the Animal Control shelter in Mansfield, Ohio and was up for adoption.

We contacted them and asked them to hold her for us and we drove the 10 hours round trip to get her. When we arrived, it was pretty obvious that she wasn't a BC but we were already in love with her looks and brought her home. We changed her name to Jill and she and Jack have become the best of friends. They are equal in all respects and share everything including their food and toys (such as their rawhide chew in the picture). Jill sleeps on the bed (we know, a no-no but can't help it!) and is a real lover. She has stolen our hearts! :-)

Both Jack and Jill have been neutered and chipped.

abandoned kittens

abandoned kittens

I found these kittens abandoned in an old sink near our home. They were all shivering and hungry. My husband and I cared for them for 2 months during which time they captured our hearts. In the end we found homes for two and kept a brother and sister. It felt so good to give these little creatures a chance and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Pixie Perfect!

Pixie Perfect!

When I finally made the big step of purchasing a house, I decided it was time to add a new little one to the family. I scoured petfinder.com for my new little girl, finding so many cute puppies it was heartbreaking. Then I saw her. They called her Pixie (a name I loved and kept) and she weighed 4 lbs.

A precious little blond terrier/chihuahua mutt, it was love at first sight. With her pinkish nose and hair sticking out all over, my friends thought I was crazy. (It has been said she looks like a possum.) But when I brought her home, they quickly changed their minds. She immediately snuggled her way into everyone's hearts!

Rescued from The Dog Spot, Pixie has made our family whole. She loves her two older brothers and is the best cuddlebug ever! I can't imagine why anyone would have let this little treasure go - I know I won't. Life with our sweet Pixie is, well, perfect!

Sumira, an angel in the outfield

Sumira, an angel in the outfield

Sumira was named by the kind people from a local shelter who found her in a baseball field. She spent four long months at the shelter where no one adopted her. My daughter saw her one day and we went back to see her. She was very frightened but looked up at me with the most beautiful blue eyes i had ever seen! She stole my heart and i know she was just waiting for me to adopt her. We shortened her name to "Sumi". She has been with us for nine years and is such a joy!

TIGGER (Tiggy, My very Good Boy)

TIGGER (Tiggy, My very Good Boy)

I met the love of my life at a Chicago shelter-Tigger (Tiggy, my very good boy). He had me from the moment I saw him through the window. We had the best life together for 16 1/2 years filled with joy and love. He met me at the door every night when I returned home from work, even when he was sick (so dependable & loyal). Tigger could make you laugh so hard with his funny antics. I hope everyone out there finds a friend like I had with Tiggy.

Please Adopt from your local animal shelter. There are amazing animals waiting for you.

The Kittens

The Kittens

I fell in love with "the kittens" at the MSPCA Angel Memorial Pet Hospital when they were just 3 months old. As soon as they were spade and neutered I couldn't wait to get them home. Since then they have brought so much joy into my life. They treat one another like any loving brother and sister pair would, wrestling, snuggling and the like, although they each have their own distinct personality. I can't image my life without Bailey and Zoey. They will forever be known to me and everyone who meets them as "the kittens". Thank you to the MSPCA for bringing them into my life.
