Gracie gets a new life

Gracie gets a new life

I went to PetSmart for cat food, and found Gracie. Her estimated age was 10 and all the younger dogs had been adopted over the week-end. I feel sorry for the people who had to give her up. She's total joy wrapped up in fur.

Lucy came to us from the mountains of San Miguel de Allende!

Lucy came to us from the mountains of San Miguel de Allende!

I went looking for a jack russell terrier on Petfinder.com. Lucy's profile came up and I instantly fell in love with her little face and sweet spirit. I learned she was rescued by a wonderful group I never knew existed called SAMM (Save a Mexican Mutt) after being found in a park in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She was flown to us via plane by one of the groups kind volunteers. Once we got her home and introduced her to Ollie, our young male Australian cattle dog, I knew she'd fit in well with our family. Ollie thinks she's the best playmate and friend he could ever hope for and Lucy thinks Ollie hung the moon. They spend a lot of time close together and many happy hours playing and chasing each other. Lucy's estimated to be around 2 years old when we got her and although we so wish she could tell us about her colorful Mexican adventures before we met, she's bonded to us in the biggest way and we feel honored. We will always get our dogs from shelters and rescue groups because the love affairs are so great.

Sullys rescue

Sullys rescue

My Neice adopted Sully from Petsmart Halo. He along with his brothers and sisters were almost put down by the Humane Society because someone had thrown them in the trash and poured acid on them causing horrible wounds which have healed leaving bald spots, his is about 11 inchs down the center of his back.
Sully is the happiest well behaved dog we have ever had, I couldn't imagine this world without him. He loves leaping into the pool with his best buddy TJ my Golden.

Ringo gets a second chance, and a third...

Ringo gets a second chance, and a third...

Rinog is a Tennessee Walking Horse stallion. He was bred in the south and sold and resold as a show prospect. He distrusts men as a result of his 'training'. At one home, he was so neglected that an untreated eye ailment caused him to go blind.
He was run through an auction for sale - no one would bid on him. One woman asked the auction worker what would happen to him if no one bought him - the man replied "meat".

That woman saved his life and brought Ringo home. She kept him for one year, and realized she wasn't set up to keep a stud. She offered him on the internet to a good home only.

Ringo now lives with me - it has taken these 2 years to gain his trust. Ringo is now 20 years old. He is retired and has a permanent home with me. He is still a stallion, and due to his wonderful temperment, conformation, and 4 pedigrees, he will make a baby for me. That baby is due this week and will live here forever too.

The "Graveyard" Dog

The "Graveyard" Dog

When I bought my house, I decided I wanted a dog to enjoy the big backyard with me. I had heard of Akitas and found one at a local animal shelter. I drove down to meet the "six year old male brindle" on New Year's Eve 2006. Our eyes met only for a moment, but I knew I wanted to bring him home.

When I went to the front counter at the shelter to adopt him, the clerk couldn't find his paperwork. The manager suggested the clerk look "on the graveyard list." Naively, I asked what the graveyard list was. The clerk, in a hushed voice, said the Akita I wanted was scheduled to be euthanized if no one adopted him by that evening. It was ten minutes before the shelter's closing time. I closed my eyes, sighed, and knew it was meant to be. Ame is the great love of my life, and now has two pack siblings, also from local shelters.

Pickles New Beginning

Pickles New Beginning

Our youngest son wanted a new puppy. We spent one Saturday going to every shelter in our area and were unable to find a small companion. Our son was so disapponted and I explained we would a friend just be patient. I went on-line and found a picture of Pickles. We emailed the volunteer group caring for him. We didn't know that the group tried to respond and our email had returned their message. Alison the volunteer went above and beyond and looked up our number and called us the next day. We brought Pickles home that day and he has been a great companion for our son and our Australian Terrier thinks he is a great friend too! We can't thank the foster mom Sheila or Alison enough for saving him from a shelter that was going to kill him and believing from our email that Pickles would have a great home.

New Hope for Bella

New Hope for Bella

My wife and I were shopping one day when we saw a woman trying to find this beautiful miniature poodle a home. She had found it abandoned on the side of the road, hungry and afraid, and couldn't leave her there. We immediately fell in love with "Bella" and she is now healthy and better than ever! She has quickly become a beloved member of our family.

Sasha and A/C

Sasha and A/C

These two beautiful babies were found inside an outdoor air conditioning unit one cold rainy day in early May along with their two other siblings. They were only 5 weeks old. I got a call from my sister telling me that she didn't know what to do with them as no shelter would take them. I was away at a seminar that weekend so I told her to hang on to them until I got home on Monday. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these four beautiful fur balls running around her back porch. I scooped them up and took all four of them home with me. You see these babies came into to my life when I was grieving the loss of our cat Sassy. I was so despondent over losing her that I believe she brought them into my life. I kept all four of them until they were about 3 mos old. My husband said I could only keep one of the kittens because we already had one cat named Peanut and two cats was enough, but that was not to be. You see Sasha and A/C were inseperable from the start. They were always sleeping together and grooming each other and still do to this day. They run around and play and pick on their big sister as if they were kittens even though they are 6 years old now. They bring joy and laughter into our lives every day and everyday before I leave the house I say "Sassy watch over my babies while I'm gone and keep them safe ." and I know that she is!

Natasha's story

Natasha's story

We rescued a playful little kitten from our local SPCA who had been abandoned and left to fend for herself. Natasha is still very playful and has grown into the most loving cat. She is very protective of her sister Chloe, our first cat, even though at first they didn't get along. Now they are the best of friends. We couldn't have found a better cat than Natasha to bring into our home.

True treasures are found at Pet Finder

True treasures are found at Pet Finder

Well, there he is. That is my Duke. I was thinking about getting a dog to keep me and my four cats company since we live alone in a huge home. I looked all over but didn't find my pal. Then, I signed up with Pet Finder and one day, there he was. Look at that face! How could he not be wanted?! I contacted Lucky Pup Rescue, the agency that had Duke. Duke is amazing. He lets the cats rule the house but is protective of our home and his feline siblings. He is great natured, lovable, loyal, well behaved, and smart. Duke is my true treasure found right in my own back yard by Pet Finder! Now, we are thinking about another doggie playmate. Most importantly, Duke has taught me that we rescued each other. I needed him as much as he needed me!
