Trouble and Squeaky

Trouble and Squeaky

I don't think "Trouble" was dropped by the stork . . . I think he may have been dropped by a hawk or a falcon! We found him in our back yard in a drain pipe covered in dirt and leaves. He barely had his eyes open and was very hungry. He was adopted instantly and is now eight years old. He is King of our house and yard.

"Trouble" allows "Squeaky" to share the house but he has never been happy about it. "Squeaky" was brought to us by her feral Siamese Mother when she was about four weeks old. "Squeaky" has become a house cat, but spends about an hour each day hunting in the backyard. She still has many wild instincts and doesn't trust strangers. If she trusts a person, she will flop down on her side and wait for a back rub. She would like to be friends with "Trouble" and is halfway there! Squeaky is four years old. Both cats sleep on my bed at night as far away from each other as possible.

Pauley Boy

Pauley Boy

Pauley, named for his large "Paul Newman" blue eyes, was found abandoned six years ago along a busy Interstate near Sacramento CA. He had a large wound on his head, had been declawed, and suffered from numerous health issues. A kind-hearted person brought Pauley to "The Cat House" feline sanctuary in Auburn, CA where I was volunteering. The first time I saw Pauley, I fell in love. Although he was coming out of anesthesia from a dental procedure, he walked over to me, stood up on his back legs, and brushed against me. That was all it took for me to bring him home, and he is still with me today. Pauley is the most loving, sensitive kitty I've ever had, and we have a strong bond that will last forever.

Myra and Carson

Myra and Carson

Carson began his life with us after being dumped in a box with his siblings. It was love at first sight and he became our first furbaby. Seventeen months later, Myra has entered our lives. We rescued her from the local shelter and she has already become a great member of the family and a wonderful little sister to Carson. He loves her, licks her and fusses at her when necessary (like when she is biting his tail). We have found so much joy in our two rescues. Truly they have rescued us.

Sadie

Sadie

I rescued Sadie from a neighbor who had stopped feeding her and giving her water. She had recently had a litter of puppies, and all of them had died. I'm sure Sadie would have died also, if I had not taken her in. That was seven years ago. Now Sadie is a happy, healthy nine-year-old Rottenweiler (yes, she's rotten!) who sleeps on her very own couch! Sadie is the best dog we could ask for! She is wonderful with our two-year-old daughter, and she loves her doggie sister and her four cat siblings. We are so blessed to have her!

Lucky Cat

Lucky Cat

The runt of the litter was left behind on a concrete pad after the feral mom got killed by a car. My husband rescued the tiny kitten, nothing but fur over bones, just prior to a hurricane hitting. Too weak to eat, her was fed with an eye dropper around the clock. Nearly five years later, Lucky is the most loving, sleek, 15 lb. dominant personality of our four cat household.

Latest news on the stray dog shot with riffle gun

Latest news on the stray dog shot with riffle gun

For those who don't know she is a stray dog who was shot by an air pallet gun in her spine. This weekend we went to the hospital for a CT scan. She was very scared in the hospital. During the CT scan she was under full anesthesia. Everything went well. Now she is doing fine. The doctors said that she has 60% chance to recover after the surgery. Unfortunately the recovery process will be slow and the dog will need a long rehabilitation. The surgery will be as soon as possible. To see the latest pictures of the doggy and a photo of her scan you can go to my site: www.saveapet.co.cc

My sweet girl

My sweet girl

When Sweetie Pie and I met at the local shelter it was a truly happy day. The first time I picked her up she laid her puppy head on my heart and she's been in my heart ever since. I visited her a few times to be sure we were a good match. I watched everyone who handled her make some reference to her sweet nature, so her name came naturally.
To raise her right I read many books on training a happy dog. 3 years later she's a smart girl who has picked up lots of tricks and very good manners. She is welcome every where we go. Yesterday she won a ribbon at our shelter's fundraiser, Wagapalooza!

Winston Finds His Forever Home

Winston Finds His Forever Home

For the first 2 yrs of Winston's life he was left in the backyard alone. I saw his picture on our local shelter's website. He looked so sad to be there. We had to wait 3 weeks while he was treated for various maladies but he was so worth the wait. He is such a treasure with a comical personality. He wrestles with our other 8yr old rescue and keeps her young. We love him so and can't imagine life without him.

Nezumi (mouse)

Nezumi (mouse)

Nezumi was found soaking wet in a log when she was only 3 weeks old. She was crying so loudly that our friends immediately wrapped her up and took her inside to wash her off and get her warm again as it was very cold, rainy, and going below freezing that night. The woman kept thinking, "Lord, don't let this be a rodent", hence the Japanese name! She needed a home so we took her into our family (2 humans and 3 cats). Born feral she needed a lot of special care - I'm a Board Certifed Behavior Analyst so I did a whole behavioral program with her and today, one year later, she keeps us laughing all the time with her antics! She is now a very big, very beautiful, and VERY loud talker!

Peaches and Boo

Peaches and Boo

Peaches (inset) and Boo belonged to a former coworker of mine, who meant well, but didn't know much about caring for cats. She couldn't take them with her when she moved, so I had them for a day before passing them along to someone I know who works in cat rescue. The poor things were covered in fleas, had respiratory infections, and Peaches had an eye infection. Boo recovered and was adopted out quickly, but Peaches struggled for about six months and nearly died before making a miraculous recovery. She reportedly likes to make all kinds of mischief now that she is well!
