City Boy

City Boy

An hour before this photo was taken City Boy was found frightened and crying in the wheel well of an abandoned van in a fast food parking lot. The period of adjustment to his forever home was brief - we fell in love with him faster than that!

Rescued From A Garbage Can

Rescued From A Garbage Can

We heard Miranda crying from inside a garbage can in an alley. She was two weeks old. Miranda captured our hearts. She would only eat vanilla ice cream until she got used to healthy food, and later whenever she saw that brand of ice cream taken out of a grocery bag, she recognized it immediately! Miranda owned us!

Abby and JaDe They Adopted Us

Abby and JaDe They Adopted Us

JaDe came first, adopting my husband by jumping in his car, six times! He was an orphan out in the woods, alone. 1 pound of fluff and now hes 23lbs. That was five years ago.
Abby was a rescue kitty out of 14. She ran to me when I entered the Country Care Pet Hospital where Dr. Gerber had Spayed and Vaccinated her. That tiny 8 ounce ball of hair ran to my feet and looked up and said "You need me, I need you", and that was it. A year later and Shes happy with JaDe as her best friend! We could not be more blessed with these two fur babies. Adopt or be adopted, its the best feeling in the world!

Willow

Willow

She looks ferocious, but it's just a toothy yawn. She started life as a sick, little feral kitten. After she was trapped by a local rescue league and after weeks of me giving her antibiotics and steroids she is a healthy well adjusted lap cat.

Sisters

Sisters

Willow (in the top bunk) and Lilly (in the bottom bunk) were feral kittens. My bestfriend started out as their foster parent. When a relative that was highly allergic to cats visited they moved to my house for the weekend. That was 3 years ago. They became members of the family and never left.

Oscar

Oscar

A local rescue league asked me to tame a feral kitten for them. He was trapped last and was too feisty which was riling up his brothers and sisters who had already been captured the week before and were settling into their new foster home nicely. The plan was he would stay with me for a week and I would send him back to his foster home with his brothers and sisters. My cat Cordelia, who is also a rescue cat, fell in love. I couldn't send her new buddy packing so Oscar became part of the family. He is now a large lap cat weighing in at 15 pounds.

Turbo and Rascal

Turbo and Rascal

Turbo (Orange) and Rascal (grey) tabbies were adopted years apart, but they seem to have bonded like brothers. Turbo was adopted about 5 years ago from Valley Stream Cat Rescue, his former name was Turnup because he ran away from his previous home and would turn up anywhere. He was a bit of a bully and walks the house like a bouncer. Rascal and his mom were adopted about a year or so ago when I trapped them as feral kats. His mom is with us too, but Rascal bonded right away with Turbo and they constantly sleep together and the two of them constantly beg for cooked shrimp while the other cats watch in horror as they gulp down 4 or 5 every couple of days. They are great for each other and keep each other constantly on their paws.

Two brothers from other mothers

Two brothers from other mothers

I lost my 16 yr old girl, Buddy, to cancer in '97 and moved to an apartment shortly after. It took a year to convince my landlord to let me have a cat! I went to the county shelter, picked out a kitten, but they put her down instead of spaying her for me. What a sad shock, when I went back in 3 days to get her. So I then took home a grown male, only to find he had urinary tract blockage and had to bring him back for euthanasia. My heart was truly broken, but I REALLY needed a cat by this time. I found Casey - the bottom one - at an adoption fair.
3 months old, a little cool with affection, but we were happy together. Somehow I always felt like he wanted a friend, but I had never had 2 cats at once. In 2001 a dirty little orange kitten wandered into my mom's garage while I was there and she convinced me to take it after I asked all the neighbors about it. He had ringworm, though I didn't know it until I got him to the vet the next day. Casey loved Conor so much from the moment we walked in the door, he was licking and trying to play with him before I could even wash him. So I ended up treating 2 cats for ringworm.
Now their days start out with a chase and boxing match after breakfast and then hours on the screened porch. At bedtime, Conor tries to push me out of bed and Casey sedately sits nearby. I'm so glad I have these guys and that Conor came along to keep Casey company, since I now travel a lot in my work.

Our Stoic Little Old Man

Our Stoic Little Old Man

Carlos came to us by way of Petfinder.com. He looked so sad in his picture and it touched a chord. When we went to the shelter to meet him the volunteers were so excited we were interested since he was scheduled to walk the last mile the next day. He had been picked up off the streets by Animal Control. He was emaciated and had lost all the fur off of his snout and both ears. His teeth were so decayed we had to have most of them pulled. We didn't know how long he was going to be with us. Much to our delight with a great deal of love and attention he flourished. He even shocked our veterinarian by regrowing the fur on his ears and most of his snout. Our other poodle, Charlie, became his "partner in crime". Charlie and Carlos were always ready to play or to try to intimidate the cows in the farm behind our home. We had five wonderful years with Carlos. While we wish we were able to be with him longer there is not a day that goes by that we don't count ourselves blessed for knowing him.
