Our 1-lb. Cutie Pie

Our 1-lb. Cutie Pie

My son rescued a tiny kitten from the underside of a car in a restaurant parking lot. He and his girlfriend walked into the house and she said, "Mom, you're going to KILL us!", and proceeded to pull this tiny thing out from under her coat. He weighed only one pound! We didn't even discuss whether it was OK to keep him; it wasn't up for debate.
Our Merlyn was a social cat - the first time he saw our other cats, his face lit up and he ran up to them to make friends. They loved him and treated him like a baby, which he loved. He marched to his own drummer, rarely spoke, and would sit and watch people doing things, as though he were studying, trying to learn how to do it.
We lost our Merlyn to cancer last year at age six, and miss him terribly. We will never forget our little Cutie-pie, and how he enriched our lives.

CRASH BOOM BANG

CRASH BOOM BANG

IN A CAGE I SAT AND CRIED, TILL A LADY WALKED ON BY...
I DID NOT TALK I DID NOT STARE, FOR I FELT NOBODY REALLY CARED.
WHY I AM HERE I DO NOT KNOW..I GUESS MY OLD FOLKS HAD TO GO...
THIS LADY LOOKED AND LOOKED AGAIN, I WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE A GRIN...
SHE TOOK ME OUT, SHE WANTS TO PLAY...PLEASE JUST LET ME HAVE MY WAY...SHE DID NOT LIKE THAT I WAS SO THIN...BUT SHE LOVED THE WAY MY FACE SMUSHED IN...
SHE SAID, THATS THE ONE, I NEED THAT CAT, IF NOT ONLY BUT TO MAKE HIM FAT...
I HAVE A NEW FAMILY AND A NEW HOME, FOR I WILL NEVER BE ALONE.
A MOM AND DAD, AND SHORTY'S MY BROTHER...AND JUST RECENTLY THEY BROUGHT IN ANOTHER..
NOW MY BEST BUD, A PUPPY NAMED SMASH..SHE STARTED OUT TO BE A PAIIN IN THE A**.
NOW ITS GREAT I HAVE A LIFE...FOR I HOPE OTHERS OUT THERE GET IT JUST AS NICE.

When I got Crash he weighed almost 5 lbs, They estimated him to be 5 years old...I had to get him to just fatten him up some...Now, 6 years later, he is a hefty 7 lbs..guess he has good metabolism, I should have it so good...2 meals a day, all the dry food he wants, fresh water, flea free, and very loved. He loves when the familly sits outside on nice days, for him being an indoor cat he loves his adventures outside...and must like it here for he never seems to be interested in a great escape. I LOVE HIM !
Seems like adopted pets have an uncondtional love.

Lucky

Lucky

I found Lucky on a country road in 1992, more than a mile from the nearest house. She was barely old enough to drink milk from a dish. I stopped and reached down to touch her and she licked my hand. I was hooked. She was always afraid of traffic; so she stayed inside. For a long time, if she was looking out the window and a car went by, she would run under the couch. In her younger years she provided our family with many hours of entertainment as she was very mischievous and somewhat a thief. She especially liked earnings and coins. When something was missing we checked her hiding spot. Now she prefers to be on the couch and wants to just be petted.

Our family is complete again

Our family is complete again

"Miss Pickles" was found roaming the streets in SoCal; dirty, underweight and loaded with fleas. She was chipped, but it led nowhere. The shelter kept her for a time, but no one claimed this sweetypie.
Thank God for the folks and volunteers of Bull Terrier Rescue, Inc., who sprung her and had her transported to the Bay Area in January (even though it was a rainy, freezing and stormy night! )
We had 2 Bullies pass away just before this, and we were extremely grieved and heartbroken. As soon as we met her though, we knew this little honeybee was perfect for us!
Now "Kiska" is happy, completely loved, spoiled with toys and treats, and most importantly a forever member of our family.
Our family is complete again. Life is GOOD!

Lost and Found

Lost and Found

I found this baby girl on a Highway exit between the Wyoming and Nebraska stateline. In the middle of December someone had left her there with nothing but a ratty chew toy and a pile of dry dog food. Her name is Kimbal the name of the off ramp where she was found. She was a gift to me and she filled a place in my soul I didn't evn know was empty.

Fidius T. Buster

I was coming home from work one day and decided to stop and get a pizza for dinner. As I was talking with friends, I saw this little kitten run in the pizza shop and turn around and run right under an approaching bus. The bus driver was wonderful and stopped the bus so we could get him before he would get hurt. Fidius was so scared. I took him home and bathed him several times and he is now king of my home. I do have other pets, two dogs and another cat, but they all get along great. They are all my babies!

Felix

Felix

My husband & I adopted Felix from the North Shore Animal League America shelter ~3 years ago. Felix was sick with an upper respiratory infection & was separated. As ill as Felix was, when we held him, he purred immediately. We initially left, but my heart & soul were already with Felix, as was my husband. We went back & got Felix. Felix is our son! Felix is so loving, forgiving, & good! We are so glad that Felix chose us!

Cheeto

Cheeto

We had to put our beloved Colby, an orange-and-white tabby, down just before Christmas of 2007 because of the complications of old age (he was 18-1/2) and glaucoma. It was a terrible day! We waited a long, sad year before I began cruising the Vilas County (WI) Humane Society's website...and there he was, a tall, lanky, laid-back adult kitty named Cheeto. He'd been a stray and remained unclaimed for months. Yet, whoever lost him took very good care of this charming cat. How lucky we are that he, too, is orange-and-white, and goofy and playful like his beloved predecessor. My husband wasn't too sure about another pet as each summer we boat on Lake Superior with our trawler, but we're now very sure this friendly, easy-going, handsome fellow will become Admiral Cheeto in no time.

From Cato to Pamplico

From Cato to Pamplico

My aunt, uncle and cousins live on a busy dirt road that serves as a cut through from one busy highway to another. One day, while visiting, we saw the cutest little fur ball walk up on their back porch and lay down for a nap. He had been dumped a few days before and was all tuckered out from his recent adventures. I walked outside with a bowl of water for him, but I couldn't resist the urge to grab him up and cuddle him in my arms. It was love at first sight. His coat was a very thick orange-brown, and his paws were birght white. He looked like a little Eskimo who had been playing in the snow, so the name stuck. Eskimo is now my quite handsome, freckle-faced son who has captured not only my more-than-willing heart but my husband's as well. Wherever Daddy goes, he goes. Truck rides and fishing trips on the boat are his favorite. He is the best guard dog ever, and my husband and I joke about him always being "on duty". When I go out to spend time with his sister, a 300lb wild Russian sow named Penny (she's my first child), he sits by the fence, perched on his haunches and cautiously scans the yard for any danger. It makes my heart melt when I watch him. He has some of the best puppy-dog-eyes expressions that I have ever seen, and shows more feeling than any other dog I have ever had. I love him dearly, and we consider ourselves blessed to have found him abandoned on that dirt road.

Almost Lost this One

Almost Lost this One

The people who bought this dog wanted a mean dog so they beat her daily to try to make her vicious. They only broke the poor girls spirit. After her daily beatings were done they kept her locked in a cage for months. They finally decided to get rid of her and dropped her off at a local rescue. She was in such bad shape they were going to put her down. She would only cower and could barely move. No one could get close to her. My wife happened to stop by that day and she was able to walk right up to this poor little girl. We loaded her up and it was off to a new home. She could barely walk after being locked in a cage for so long. She made instant friends with her three new sisters, 2 dobes and 1 weiner dog. It took many months but we finally had her walking. Running was a different story. She just didn't know how to move her legs fast enough. It was pretty comical at times. Her new sisters just weren't going to let her waste her life doing nothing. They worked and played with her until she became a very healthy little girl. She has been with us for almost 6 years and is now the queen of the house. Her two dobe sisters have since passed away, but we rescued another dobe so she has a full size playmate.
